Decca Records introduces A Tender Light, the sublime and moving music of composer, Paul Mealor.
Performed by the brilliant Tenebrae Choir under conductor Nigel Short, and featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, A Tender Light showcases the mastery of this Welsh composer whose music is being considered as the new sound of British choral composition.
A Tender Light features Ubi Caritas (Now Sleeps The Crimson Petal) which was performed at the Royal Wedding of their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The piece topped the Classical singles charts in the USA, UK, Australia, France and New Zealand and is publishing company, Music Sales’, No. 1 'Best selling' score. It achieved UK download sales of 5000 copies which is indicative of the popularity and pull of Mealor’s music.
Mealor’s music has continued to be displayed at an international platform, when Ubi Caritas was sung at services across the United States in commemoration of the events of 9/11, including the official New York ceremony at St Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral.
Two particular promotional opportunities that will feature at the time of release include the Royal British Legion’s 2011 Festival of Remembrance where a piece of Paul’s music will be performed. In addition, Paul is to feature as guest composer on Gareth Malone’s new BBC programme.
